COHO BEACH COTTAGE
This is an absolutely charming, brightly colored beach cottage which may be perfect for your lot!
Whether you keep it small & modest or have us lift it up high enough to become a *carriage house* over a garage, you will be able to continue this house’s colorful history with a long, new chapter written about your own family’s time with this small treasure.
The house is a 2-bedroom, 1-bath cabin, but built stoutly with 2×8 floor joists on 24-inch centers (pretty solid for a 657 sq/ft cabin).
It has a charming galley style kitchen, a small pantry, and an enclosed porch with room for a washer/dryer, and a single bathroom.
THIS LOVELY HOUSE HAS BEEN MOVED BEFORE!!
One of the previous owners of this cottage, author, Sue Mills, published a book called “The Divine Mirror of Loneliness,” in which she writes about Berte Olson from Stavanger, Norway, who’s family became one of the early homesteaders in the area where the cottage is now. Berte—who lived in the house on Fidalgo Island just north of Whidbey—became the first female ferryboat captain in the State of Washington in the early 1900s before the Deception Pass Bridge was built.
Berte’s ferry service business was all but quashed once the bridge opened. However, she showed her salt by moving the house *herself* by barge & tug to where the house is presently located on Whidbey Island, giving it to her sister to live in for the rest of her life. Berte then moved to the Hood Canal and then set up a new ferryboat service down there!
This house is already popular and is likely to find its “house rescuers” very quickly. Don’t hesitate to contact our office ASAP if you wish to learn more!
SUNSET GRAND
This grand two-story home embraces the view almost like no other! The bedrooms (three in total) are generous in size and unbeatable in terms of the view potential. There are plenty of bathrooms for an active family or a vacation home (four in all).
The main floor features an ‘open plan’ layout for the main entertaining areas, and most of the public rooms are also facing the view side of the house. There is also a spare room on the main floor that could be used as an office space or even a spare bedroom.
It is constructed well with quality finishes and features, including the unique “porthole” door, engineered hardwood floors, and tile floor elements in some high traffic areas. The upstairs is largely carpeted.
This home is the perfect waterfront home! Please contact the office for more information or to arrange a viewing!
THE H-HOUSE WATERFRONT
This beautiful waterfront home has a unique “H-shaped” plan! Hence the name “H-House.” This was a custom designed and built house by its original owners in 1959, making it a true Mid-Century custom home. You will find charming and artful details, such as classic wood paneled walls in the kitchen and sitting porch (which acts as a dining area).
The first thing you will notice when you walk in are the impossibly large windows in both the Primary Bedroom and the Living Room, embracing the view from floor to ceiling!
The two private bedrooms are generously large and isolated to their own ‘wing’ of the house. The owners built in beautiful flagstone floors in the entry hall and sitting porch, and the present owners installed cork flooring in the main living room area!
Other features include:
1). Some of the original appliances remain in the kitchen, including a counter-mounted stovetop (notice the
copper-colored backsplash tiles) & two charming wall-mounted ovens.
2). The kitchen is punctuated by a luxury modern refrigerator that every homeowner would love!
3). You’ll enjoy having the original “Dutch Door” which leads from the sitting room to the side-yard of the house.
4). A modern washer/dryer setup is in the utility room, and there is a relatively new water heater as well.
The overall size is 55-feet across and 40-feet from water side to entry side, so please plan on this house being moved to a waterfront lot or very close to a barge site.
The garage does not come along with the house due to width issues.

KITSAP CARRIAGE HOUSE
This wonderful Carriage House — newly built in 2003 — works perfectly as a DADU (“detached accessory dwelling unit”) as it will meet a common permitting criteria for most jurisdictions (typically 800 sq/ft) for a DADU or “mother-in-law” unit.
It can also be renovated to add a kitchen in the downstairs utility room. Just add some windows in that section and you can achieve a modest both mighty rental unit to accompany your primary residence, or as a cute Craftsman-style vacation destination for you and your family.
